Gertrude "Trudy" Aycox

August 31, 1951 - March 24, 2021

Gertrude Aycox, affectionally known as “Trudy,” of Lorain, transitioned from her earthly tabernacle to her heavenly home on March 24, 2021, at her home. She was born Gertrude Irene Aycox, August 31, 1951 in Lorain.

Trudy graduated from Elyria High School and went on to a trade school where she specialized in sewing, later tailoring many of her garments. She went on to broadcasting school and became an announcer on a radio station in Columbus, Ohio where she earned her nickname “Velvet” because her voice was VELVETY smooth across the airways.

Trudy married the love of her life, Henry Morgan, and from this union one child was born, Jacqueline Morgan. She was warm, loving, caring, and kindhearted. She also loved fishing in her spare time.

Trudy leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her passing her daughter Jacqueline Morgan; sisters: Roberta Barnett, Carrie Taylor, Mildred (Jim) Taylor Houston of Lorain, Ohio, Zora Aycox of Pensacola, Florida, Marcella Taylor and Linda Taylor of Cleveland, Ohio; brothers: George Taylor (Geneva), Aldelbert Aycox of Lorain, Ohio and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Mother Juanita Taylor; father, Robert Aycox; sisters: Mary Carter, Lillian Acropolis, Mary Catherine Aycox and Barbara Taylor.

A public visitation will be held Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at Cathedral of Praise Worship Center, 4545 Elyria Ave in Lorain where Bishop Melvin L. Brown is pastor. Interment will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.

Social distancing, COVID-19 safe practices and wearing a mask are required.
