Kathress D Overton

November 2, 1952 - February 16, 2021

Kathress Dianna Overton, born November 2, 1952, departed this life on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. She was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas to Tommy and Elizabeth Overton.

Ms. Kathress Overton was a loyal, faithful and dedicated parishioner of God's Kingdom Worship Center in Lorain. There she served under the tutelage of her niece, Pastor Valerie Howard and nephew, Apostle Charles Howard. Ms. Kathress possessed a dignified strength. She was reputable for extending encouragement, offering kind words, providing support and bringing sunshine into the room. Her passions were cross training, walking, competing in marathons, but most importantly family! She was enthralled by having fun, helping people, visiting those in the hospitals and nursing homes, spending time with her grandchildren and traveling. She was well known, deeply loved, admired by many and recognized as a great friend.

Kathress Overton attended Lorain High School and graduated in 1971. Kathress was the life of any party and enjoyed dancing. She was a lover of music, especially Jazz and attending concerts were highly anticipated every year. Ms. Overton was expressive, elegant, caring, thoughtful, sweet, kind, strong, unique and lovingly called Annie Pannie by close family members. Her first job was at Woolworth Company, but her career began as a crane operator at the Steel Plant where she worked until she retired.

Ms. Overton was a true leader. After she gave her life to the Lord, she led her entire family to Bethel Church of God in Christ, where Elder Willis Williams Sr. is pastor. She turned in her B-I-N-G-O chips to serve J-E-S-U-S. She gave it ALL up to serve Him because she truly wanted to be right. SHE LOVED GOD AND LOVED PRAISING HIS NAME! She was meticulous and notorious for her fashion and style. Kathress was full of life and would liven up ANY environment when she arrived-she was a show stopper. Whenever she stepped out of the house, the world became her runway, her makeup was flawless, every piece of hair in place, her shoes and jewelry accentuated her outfit and was fragrant with her favorite perfume, Perry Ellis. She was an entrepreneur and many visited her flea market in Lorain on Oberlin Avenue.

Kathress is survived by her sons; Micheal (Lorena) and Jimmy (Rachel) Overton; grandchildren, Bishop, Brianna, Jeremiah, Tabias, Cierra, Alexa and Amiya; 11 great grandchildren; a brother, Gregory Overton; sisters, Fay Overton of Savannah, Georgia, Gwendolyn Jones, Teresa and Cynthia Overton, all of Lorain; long life friend, Kathy Patton; special friend, Donald Glenn; several close friends; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, multitude of family members and her church family.
