Cebron Matthews

August 13, 1928 - July 23, 2019

Cebron Matthews, 90, of Sandusky, transitioned from this life on Tuesday July 23, 2019 in Providence Care Center surrounded by his family.

He was born August 13, 1928 in Meridian, Mississippi to John Artie and Willie Mae (Marshall) Matthews. He married his childhood friend Adeline R. Irby in 1947 in Mississippi, and they moved to Sandusky, Ohio in 1952, where he was employed by Farrell Cheek Steel Company for 33 years until they closed.

He was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where he sung in the mass choir and the male chorus. He enjoyed watching westerns, listening to his Cleveland sports teams on the radio, and spending time with his family and friends.

Cebron is survived by his sons; Cebron Jr., James (Patricia), and Willie G.; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and many other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years, his brothers; Davis, Ezra, Leroy, Achie, Johnnie, Joseph, and James, his sisters; Ethel, Ruby, Earline, Lessie, Alberta, and Carrie, and grandson Cebron Lamar Matthews and great-granddaughter Marnae Matthews.

Family and friends may call on Friday August 2, 2019 from 11am until time of service at 12pm at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1920 Eddy Henry Way, Sandusky, OH. Pastor Curtis L. Johnson Jr officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron, Ohio.
