Lonnie Nathaniel Taylor, “Tate”, age 69, of Elyria, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2019 at University Hospital of Elyria.

He was born March 18, 1950 in Knoxville, Tennessee and came to Ohio as a youth. He attended Elyria High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was employed at Elyria Country Club, Harshaw Chemicals, and retired from Columbia Hills Country Club. He enjoyed his hats, cooking, spending time with his family, listening to music and watching his favorite football team, the Chicago Bears.

Lonnie is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lizzie M (Davis) Taylor; his devoted daughter Keisha Davis of Elyria, daughter Tonya Harris, and son Terry Taylor, both of Murfreesboro TN; two grandchildren, Taylor San-tashia and Tavon Nathaniel; a great granddaughter, Niya, who he loved and adored; sisters: Peggy (Willie) Battle, Marliyn (Thomas) Heston, Evelyn (Melvin) Pickens, Deborah Taylor, and Tammie (Vaughn) Jones; brother, Buford Jr. (Lisa) Taylor; two aunts, Shirley and Francis; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sentra Monique Taylor; his father, Buford N. Taylor Sr., and mother, Dorothy Lee Taylor; brother, James Wilkerson; sister, Brenda Hannibal; and niece, Twana Hannibal.

Viewing will be Friday, July 12, 2019 from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM at New Bethel P.B. Church, 3880 Dayton Ave, Lorain OH, with Rev. Tyrone Holley officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery
