Harry E Vauls

Harry E. Vauls, age 82, departed this life for eternal life on October 26, 2018 after a brief illness under the care of Mercy Health New Life Hospice. He was born October 5, 1936 in Keyser, West Virginia, to the late Margaret and Joseph Vauls. He graduated from Howard High School in Keyser and came to Ohio at an early age for construction work. He started his journey at Ford Motor Company in August 1964, and at one time worked both construction and at Ford.

After moving up the ranks at Ford, he quit his job as a construction worker and maintained his position as supervisor of the Commercial Trim Department at Ford Motor Company. He retired from Ford after 39 years of service. He later became employed at Elyria Memorial Hospital Regional Medical Center, now named University Hospitals Medical Center, as a courier for 12 years.

He was a die-hard sports fan and loved the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Indians, and the Cleveland Browns. He loved meeting his buddies at McDonald’s where they would solve the world’s problems. He also enjoyed having lunch with his Ford friends the first Wednesday of every month.

He was a member of Second Baptist Church, Lorain, Ohio, where he served as Chairman of the Trustee Board and was also a faithful usher until his health declined.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; three sisters, Joan Vauls, Adrienne Clifford, and Evelyn Vauls.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his best friend of 44 years and wife of 32 years, Grace Vauls (nee Higginbotham); five daughters, Cheryl McLin (Thaddeus) of Lorain, Rosalind Vauls of Strongsville, Lydia Bohannon of Columbus, Norene Bohannon of Elyria, and Monica Vauls of Columbus; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a sister, Vivian F. Hunt (Morton) of Dayton; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 31, 2018 from 6pm–8pm at Second Baptist Church, 300 W. 13th St., Lorain, OH, where services will be held Thursday November 1, 2018 at 12 noon, with Pastor Loversier Lewis officiating.
